Cornhole
One of our favorite games to play during the summer is cornhole. My dad made our boards a few years ago and I painted them. We've been practicing at night for the big games this holiday weekend!

Pearls!
I love pearls! They make a special outfit even more special. I love wearing pearls with casual outfits too. I work a lot with freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystal pearls and both result in beautiful designs.
Some interesting facts about pearls:
- Pearl is the official birthstone for the month of June. It is also the Sun Signs of Gemini and Cancer.
- Fresh water pearls are given on the 1st wedding anniversary. Pearls are also given on the 3rd, 12th and 30th anniversaries.
- Cultured or freshwater pearls are considered to offer the power of love, money, protection, and luck. Pearls are thought to give wisdom through experience, to quicken the laws of karma and to cement engagements and love relationships. They are thought to keep children safe.
- Early Chinese myths told of pearls falling from the sky when dragons fought. Ancient legend says that pearls were thought to be the tears of the gods and the Greeks believed that wearing pearls would promote marital bliss and prevent newlywed women from crying.

I went shopping!
I've been MIA for a while and haven't been doing much jewelry making for the past couple months. My mom has had a rough 2011 so far. First up was radiation treatment for breast cancer and most recently she was in the hospital with pneumonia. She is home, doing well and taking it easy while she recovers.
A gem show was in town last weekend and my mom was so looking forward to going with me. She always goes with me and loves to look at strand after strand of gemstones and pearls. The day was always capped off with a nice lunch. This year I went alone but still brought my new beads to show her. I can't wait to start creating again!
