Craft Show ~ Jewelry Display Tips

First,  a disclaimer:  I only do a few shows a year and they are all inside where I have one table.  I'm definitely not an expert, but have put together a few display tips to share.
  • Have a consistent theme and look.  For me, this begins with the earring card holders and price tags.  I recently purchased ones from a new favorite seller on Etsy.  I'll be posting a separate topic on this!
  • Use a nice table cover.  This doesn't have to be expensive!  I purchased a few yards of a suede-like fabric from Joann Fabrics when I had a 50% off coupon.  For my jewelry, a nice solid color works best as a backdrop.  Anything with a print would be too busy and distracting.  Other options for a table cover are sheets or blankets... be creative!
  • Vary the height of your display.  I had a couple photo storage boxes that I placed on the table, with a fabric napkin over them.  I would have liked something a bit higher, but didn't have the time to come up with something.  I apologize for the clutter behind the tables.... everyone was still setting up!

  • Group 'like' items together.  I had bracelets and necklaces in pretty shades of blue.  I grouped those together along with several pair of matching items.  That way potential buyers can see the whole collection together and buy the whole set.

  • People love looking through my bargain bin!  I always have a bowl with earrings under $10.  Most often people would find something in there first, then pick out something else too.

  • Think outside the box when it comes to displays.  Buying displays can get expensive, and for someone like me that doesn't do a lot of shows, it's not feasible.  If you google 'jewelry displays' you'll come up with lots of ideas - people are so creative!  I made a new earring display for this past show.  DIY instructions coming soon!

I hope you find these helpful!  I'm always looking for new tips and would love for you to share yours!

Fundraising Event

Last week I was a vendor for an annual fundraising event. This "Say Buy Buy to Cancer" event raises money for the American Cancer Society.  I thought I'd share a few pictures from the event.  It was such a fun evening.

A few pictures of my displays:

And the shoppers begin shopping!

It was such a fun night!  I'll be posting some future tips and advice on shows in the next week.

Welcome Spring!

Spring arrives this week!  Around here it feels like early summer instead of spring!  With temperatures in the mid-70's everyone has come out of hibernation - bikes are out, cars are being washed and the windows are open.  The birds have been singing.  What a treat!  Little pops of color are showing up everywhere.  Even my hydrangeas are showing their glossy leaves.

New Leather Cord Necklaces

Today was another beautiful sunny day with the temperature in the mid-70's.  I took advantage of the warm weather to take pictures of some new necklaces.  All are made with genuine leather cord in either brown or black.  I hope to get these listed in my etsy shop this week!

Busy week ahead

Thursday marks the annual Bye Bye To Cancer fundraising event I am a vendor at.  It's such a great show and the proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.  Boy, did March creep up on me!  I feel like I've procrastinated and now am in a mad scramble get ready.  Plus it didn't help that we lost an hour today!

Today I tagged a bunch of necklaces and bracelets.  Tomorrow night my mom is coming over to help me put earrings on their cards.

Blondies ~ Recipe

Yum!  These are the perfect treat when you're in the mood for something sweet!  Just be sure to have a glass of milk handy.  I am participating in a fundraiser next week and want to bring some bite-sized snacks.  So I'm experimenting this weekend with recipes.  I liked that I didn't have to get out my handmixer for these.  They were quick and easy to prepare.

Enjoy!

Blondies
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 t vanilla
1/2 t baking powder
pinch of salt
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butterscotch chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350.  Lightly butter and flour and 8x8 pan.

Whisk together the butter and sugar in large bowl.  Add the egg and vanilla extract and whisk.  Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.  Mix well.  Add the butterscotch chips and walnuts.

Spread batter in pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.  Allow to cool and cut into squares.
